Understand Your Ball Flight

The D-Plane, Interactively

Every shot is decided in a fraction of a second at impact. Adjust the face angle and club path below to see exactly why the ball starts where it starts — and curves where it curves.

The Two Numbers That Matter

Face Angle + Club Path = Ball Flight

Club path (navy) is the direction the clubhead is moving through impact. Face angle (gold) is where the clubface points at the moment of contact. The ball starts mostly toward the face angle, and curves away from the path based on the gap between the two — that gap is the D-Plane.
